CILogon is used to allow users external to the University of Missouri to access resources managed by University of Missouri Research Support Solutions (RSS). ). See sections below for more information on how to get a Hellbender account via CILogon depending on your role.

What is an ORCID?
ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID — a persistent, globally unique identifier.
Why do we need this?
This ORCID relates to federated authentication
Step 1: Go to: https://orcid.org/
Step 2: Select “Register Now”
Step 3: On the “Create your ORCID iD“ – make sure to use your university e-mail address on this screen
Step 4: Fill out the rest of the form to establish your ORCID
What is CILogon?
CILogon is an identity and access management service that supports login from many identity providers (IdPs), including universities, Google, GitHub, and ORCID. ORCID acts as a federated identity provider within CILogon.
Why do we need this?
We are using CILogon in conjunction with ORCID to create unique federated accounts for each user on Hellbender regardless of which institution they attend.
Requesting RSS CILogon Account
Step 1: In your browser - open an incognito window
Step 2: Go to your institution specific link:
Step 3: You will be taken to a screen to select your identity provider – click on the selection box and choose “ORCID” then Log On:
Step 4: Authorize Access:
Step 5: You will be re-directed to: https://registry.itrss.umsystem.edu Begin the registration process [use your university e-mail address]:
Step 6: Complete registration process
Step 7: Consent to Terms and Conditions and Submit
Step 8: Once you hit submit your application will go to your campus CIMUSE contact who will approve/deny. Once your account is approved – you will receive an e-mail confirmation.
Go to MU Hellbender Account request and fill out the form. Please include the CILogon UID that was created in the previous step
Once approved and created - you will receive an e-mail notification from the MU team that your Hellbender account has been created.

Truman State is a member of the InCommon federation so Truman State accounts already have authorization to act as a federated identity provider within CILogon.

Step 3: You will be taken to a screen to select your identity provider – click on the selection box and choose “Truman State University” then Log On:
Step 4: Authorize Access:

Step 6: Complete registration process
Step 7: Consent to Terms and Conditions and Submit
